2 killed, another injured in southwestern Germany stabbing
(CNN) German authorities were investigating Tuesday night a suspected double stabbing in a remote village near the border with Austria.
A man, 26-year-old Mehmet K., was admitted to a hospital in Goslar for a knife wound and is critically wounded, officials said.
“A 26-year-old man has been stabbed during a fight in a remote village near Goslar in Germany,” a spokesman for the German federal police told CNN. “He is now in a critical condition in the hospital.”
The man’s brother said he and K. had been fighting “for some time,” but that K. had not wanted to go to the police.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and attempted violent burglary in connection with the stabbing, police said. One of them, identified as 25-year-old Alexander G., was detained following the attack. The other, identified as 26-year-old Dominik Mehlmann, remained at large Tuesday. Police did not rule out robbery as a motive and are investigating several possible motives, police said.
