Toronto relaxes COVID-19 rink rules as winter activities move ‘toward normal’

TALLAHASSEE – Tallahassee Ice Rink & Ice Skating Center will hold its Ice Rink Season Opener on Tuesday morning, Jan. 10. This season, players can expect to begin practice on Jan. 9-10. Practice will start at 8 a.m. and the league schedule begins on Friday at 7 p.m. All games are being postponed until at least Tuesday, Dec. 29. The league will move the 2020 Ice Skating Championships to Monday, Jan. 8, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
“Due to public health concerns, we must change several aspects of the season and practice guidelines so that we can continue to provide the necessary social distancing necessary to protect the health of our community and our athletes. We ask for the public’s support to allow us to work with our local and state public health officials to make these changes, so that our sport continues to thrive while maintaining the highest standards of safety for everyone involved,” Tallahassee Ice Rink & Ice Skating Center wrote in a statement.
The league stated the following changes have been made:
“Winter Sports: Players will be permitted to participate in outdoor winter activities, beginning on Friday, Dec. 10 and ending on Sunday, Jan. 14 in accordance with the guidelines outlined in ATHLEAN for Winter Sports at Tallahassee Rink Sports Complex.
Season Opener: Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, with all Ice Skating Activities at the Tallahassee Ice Rink & Ice Skating Center held indoors.
Scheduling: All ice activities are being postponed at this time.
Season length: The league will move the 2020 Ice Skating Championships to Monday, Jan. 8, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
