A Los Angeles Hotel with a Theatrical Flair”.
The most recent theatrical production at the Ritz-Carlton was in July, when the show, In The Soup, was staged by the hotel’s hotel resident company, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel New Orleans. The theater is a former 1920s movie theater that closed in 1986 and has since undergone a number of remodeling and restoration projects.
Since 2007, the Ritz-Carlton has provided several other theatre company productions. A fall 2008 production, with a cast including Sarah Seltzer, Sean Astin, John Hawkes, and Paul Scheer, was presented by the hotel’s resident company, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. The same company produced a show called “Bubba Goes to Mars” in 2008.
A summer 2009 production was staged by the Ritz-Carlton’s hotel resident company, the Hotel Ritz-Carlton Dance Theater. This company had been established about two years earlier to perform various dance productions in the hotel and provide training for hotel staff interested in developing their own theatrical productions.
Ritz-Carlton President and Design Director Michael Schwartz: “We hope to continue to grow our theatrical productions throughout the hotel. We have seen the quality of the productions that we have produced, and we expect this level of excellence to be maintained.”
A Los Angeles theatrical production with such an international cast will not be easy to find anywhere other than The Ritz-Carlton, one of the most elegant hotels in the world.
