Pence calls on Trump to apologize for dinner with antisemite

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan, an ardent fan of the Holocaust, and Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was not a fan of that, had a tense exchange yesterday over comments by the presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, and Trump’s relationship with some of his more prominent supporters. Ryan, who has been a frequent critic of Trump and has called the candidate an “idiot” and “a fool,” tried to bring the two sharply together in his address to the National Press Club yesterday. But Trump fired back, accusing Ryan of “racism” for implying he would vote for him because of racism.
In response to Ryan defending Trump against charges of racism, Trump pointed out how Ryan had previously said he did not think Trump would win the Republican nomination:
You said I wouldn’t win, so you didn’t think I would win. Who did you think I would win? I was shocked by the polls. For some reason you are a racist. So, if [Hillary] won, you would have gotten over your prejudice? So, if Hillary won, would you vote for me? You would have been right back on your horse, wouldn’t you? I would have been on my horse to the place I am right now, but I wouldn’t have been as successful without the help of those people. You want to blame somebody for your racism? Why not try blaming the people who are running for president right now? You have been so racist, you could not even be elected without a racist primary. You have been so racist, I could have never won the nomination if I had been challenged by a racist.
