Young Iranian Climber Climbs to the Top of the Koyun Tappeh in Tehran

Iranian Climber Elnaz Rekabi Is Welcomed by Crowds in Tehran

(Iran Times) A young Iranian climber was welcomed by the crowd in Tehran this afternoon as she climbed to the top of Tehran’s highest hill.

The 15-year-old climber, named Elnaz Rekabi, is climbing alone as thousands of people applauded and greeted her.

Earlier in the day, a group of young Iranian climbers had climbed to the top of the Koyun Tappeh in Tehran.

The young climber, who is 13 years old, was not accompanied by adults, according to state television.

This morning, the young Iranian climber, who is from Tehran, climbed alone to the top of the Koyun Tappeh hill in Tehran, and held a press conference afterward.

The 15-year-old was climbing with three friends, who were accompanied by the state television.

According to Iranian news service Etemaad, she asked the TV presenters to hold back the microphones after she reached the top, but they refused and kept talking.

Rekabi is going to bring a message to the world, the news service said.

“I want to invite many people here, especially the youth who feel isolated and are confused about their futures. I want them to be optimistic about their future,” she said.

Rekabi said she was happy that she was able to reach such an important point in her life.

The teenager said she chose the Koyun Tappeh because she wanted the highest point in Iran to look like Mount Everest, but she was not climbing alone.

“It’s the first time I climbed to the highest point in Iran alone. I was not sure of the weather conditions, but I wanted to go on a climb that would be meaningful to me and would showcase my capabilities,” she said
