Chris Hemsworth says he’s taking a break from acting to spend time with family after facing his own mortality in the last two years.
The Thor star announced Monday on Instagram that he’s taking a break from his busy schedule for personal reasons.
He wrote:
“Hello Everyone and Happy Saturday! I am going to take a little time out of my hectic schedule today to celebrate my Mom’s birthday by laying her low and my own. Resting.
“What I have been doing lately is taking time to spend with my family. Since I have been home for the past few weeks, I have just been going from one place to the next (i.e. LAX, Disney, San Diego).
“I know my next few weeks are going to be hectic. Just want to take the time to get my mind right and enjoy this beautiful state I call home. Until then, I will catch up with everyone later.”
Hemsworth also shared a throwback shot of him with his dog Trudy, with the caption: “When you are older, you look at a picture of a dog and I hope that they look at me and see that I am here.”
This is Hemsworth’s first post on social media since August. In July, he posted a photo of his then two-year-old son Bear and said, “My oldest son Bear is my true love.
“I was his first parent and the first teacher, but he is my best friend. And our life together is the best thing I could have ever asked for.”
Buckingham Palace also shared the post. It reads, “It is with love that we share a heart-felt message from our son Thor to his fellow actors, ‘May the best man win,’ and our hope for Thor to make his triumph as glorious as his work.”
Hemsworth had a memorable turn as Thor in Marvel’s first movie in 2014, becoming a fan favorite and the highest-paid actor in the world at the time.
